You’ll Pay 60X Too Much For This

Billboards are built for shaping culture, not driving actions. They work by keeping a brand or idea circulating in conversation. They are broad, hard to measure, and rarely produce trackable conversions. Using them as if they are direct-response tools leads to disappointment. For this course, they are excluded because they are too broad, too expensive, and there are far more efficient ways to influence culture within a defined group.

Mailers sit on the direct-marketing side. They rely on measurable tracking, iteration, and ROI calculations. A real example shows why they underperform. Sending 500 pieces cost about $900, produced a typical 1 percent QR-scan rate, and then a 0 percent final conversion. Mathematically, it would have cost roughly $3,600 to generate a single action. By comparison, Facebook ads average about $60 per action in this industry.

Mailers fail because people are numb to them and they can only target demographics rather than psychographics. This breaks modern targeting strategy and makes them ineffective for practices seeking predictable, efficient marketing.
