What is marketing?
You’ll begin this lesson by writing down your own answer to that question. This gives you a baseline to measure your conceptual growth throughout the course.
Most people find this surprisingly difficult, because marketing often feels vague and overloaded with meaning.
When people try to define marketing, they usually mention things like:
Getting the word out
Running ads or PPC
Posting on social media
Improving your brand
Adjusting pricing to match demand
Boosting ROI or maximizing profit
Designing a logo or updating visuals
Sending emails or “doing more marketing”
These answers are common, but they represent only a small fraction of what marketing actually is. Even combined, they barely touch the full impact real marketing can have.
So keep your original answer. Treat it as your starting point. As you move through this course, you’ll see why these assumptions fall short and what marketing truly means.
By the end, your understanding will be clearer, more strategic, and far more powerful than where you began.
Knowledge without execution is just wasted time. Our Implementation Kit is designed to give you the clarity you need to plan your work, and work your plan.
